August 21st is a big week for Pato Banton who releases “"New Day Dawning"”,
the last in a series of compilation albums. "New Day Dawning" features
new and previously unreleased recordings during the Reggae Revolution
Era, as well as some earlier releases from Pato's favorite catalog of
songs that are relevant to today's times. Guest artists featured on
this album are: STING, Fuzzy Logic, Amlak Tafari, Martin Phillips, Yaz
Alexander, Big Every Time, Ray Beshara (RIP), The Reggae Revolution and
Selwyn Brown of Steel Pulse.
In addition to all of this, Pato releases "The Words Of Christ" (7 Disc Box Set), a specially priced iTunes exclusive $24.99 (including
a digital only bonus track). The box set is the culmination of a 7
year, 4 disc project, whose lyrics are the words of Jesus as they appear in the Urantia Book, set over newly created musical compositions from Pato.
Joe Rathbone is proud to announce the release of his fifth record entitled
"Waking Up the Sun", featuring his new group The Mercy Alliance. Waking
Up the Sun includes inspired guitar work by the late Steve Bishop, who
worked with the legendary Ronnie Montrose, drumming by ex Counting Crow
Steve Bowman , lyrical bass from John Kessler who started his career as a
member of the original Mountain Stage band and some elegant string work
from producer David Henry ( David Mead Guster, Josh Rouse, Kelly Joe
Phelps, Jars of Clay.
The
8 tracks range from broad open rockers like the title track : Waking Up
the Sun to brooding ballads, introspective jaunts and a poignant
farewell to guitarist Bishop entitled Wave. Rathbone provides raw vocals
and gritty guitar playing and some colorful keyboard on all the tracks
while Deanna Murray delivers some thrilling harmony singing often
weaving in and out of the lead vocal. Waking Up the Sun deals with the
concept of how we face loss and alienation while recognizing and
accepting the incredible good fortune the world can bring. There are
gorgeous string flourishes, ecstatic feedback, watery volume swells,

Led by Mike
Mattison, who also sings and writes songs for the Grammy Award winning

Mike Mattison won a
Grammy as lead singer with The Derek Trucks Band for 2009's Best Blues
Album, Already Free. In 2010, The Derek Trucks Band announced a hiatus,
and Mattison joined the new group, Tedeschi Trucks Band, as a backing
vocalist and songwriter. He won another Grammy with TTB for 2011's Best
Blues Album, Revelator. His compositions, “Bound for Glory” and
"Midnight in Harlem," received significant airplay and the latter was
featured in the band’s performance for the DVD of Eric Clapton's
Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010.
With ‘ STRANGER,’ Scrapomatic
added a new permanent band member, Alabama-bred, multi faceted
guitarist, Dave Yoke, while again featuring the crack Atlanta rhythm
unit of Ted Pecchio (bass) and Tyler Greenwell (drums). Marked by a
wide range of forceful original material laced with poignancy, irony,
and dark humor, the new album showcases each man’s ample singing and
songwriting talents most sublimely. Mattison (vocals) and Olsen
(guitar, vocals) penned all 12 tracks, which were recorded in January
2012 at Swamp Raga Studios, Jacksonville, FL.

Mattison, with mixing and mastering from veteran Atlanta engineer Rodney
Mills, I’M A STRANGER (AND I LOVE THE NIGHT) is solid evidence that
this close knit, ongoing partnership continues to bring forth an
impressive outlay of great music.

Following the departure last year of Snareface,The Flying Skulls‘ Jeff Wareham (J.Tonal) enlisted the help of keyboardist Jacob Hernandez, a.k.a. Esau, to tie together a collection of original tracks, remixes, and collaborations celebrating the scope and history of the bass-laden sonic revolution of the past couple of years that began in pockets of the Bay Area and L.A. and exploded outwards. The result is West Coast Bass, a 10-track history lesson available through all digital download stores on 1320 Records and Digital Music Marketing on November 1st. Inspired greatly by glitch-hop, dubstep, downtempo, and 90’s R&B, WCB details the shifting sounds that have defined a whole new generation of producers. The Skulls have been Bay Area fixtures, with J. Tonal producing and locally promoting in San Francisco for nearly a decade. ATLANTA, GA – Landslide Records announces a November 15 release date for Sean Costello: At His Best – Live, a special album of live performances recorded by the late blues guitarist/singer, featuring 16 tracks of all previously unreleased live material recorded in the US and Europe from 2000-2007. This first ever completely live album of Sean Costello performances includes 11 songs not on any prior Costello release. At His Best – Live was mastered by acclaimed producer/engineer Rodney Mills (Gregg Allman, Atlanta Rhythm Section) and represents the essence of Sean Costello’s unique artistry and total devotion to the genre.
Landslide Records is distributed nationally in the U.S. by Select-O-Hits. A portion of the royalties from the sale of the album will benefit the Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bi-Polar Research (http://www.seancostellofund.org).
Throughout At His Best – Live, Costello demonstrates why he was tagged as a blues artist of immense talent and potential at the age of 16, and how he continued to deliver on that promise up until his tragic death in April, 2008, just one day shy of his 29th birthday.
It also documents the strong overall musicianship Sean surrounded himself with throughout his career. In September of 2009, Landslide Records released Sean’s Blues, a 20-track memorial retrospective collection culled from his three commercial album releases from 1996 through 2001, as well as previously unreleased tracks, which garnered rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
Now, on At His Best – Live, blues fans who never got to see Costello perform will hear what all the excitement was about; and for those fortunate enough to have experienced a Sean Costello show in-person, the new CD will bring back vivid memories of the energy force that drew audiences from all over the world to this incredibly talented musician.

“When performing songs from his albums, Sean generally hewed closely to the reference versions. We have tried here to present rare performances in which Costello shook off those bonds and took artistic flight. More difficult was selecting the “best” takes of blues that Sean had not recorded, and therefore approached with complete liberty and palpable joy. On these favorites, his improvisations were reliably staggering, displaying his playful sense of humor, impeccable groove, chops, and attitude. It was a rare night that went by without Costello pulling down stars from the sky. Like his hero Johnnie Taylor, he was just doing his own thing. And how.”
At His Best – Live showcases that special gift Sean Costello had to interpret songs and truly make them his own. The track list for the album highlights his mastery of Chicago blues, swing/jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, soul and rock. Highlights abound throughout the CD: witness his amazing take on Freddy King’s “San-Ho-Zay”, Lloyd Glenn’s “Blue Shadows,” Magic Sam’s “All Your Love,” Lowell Fulson’s “Reconsider Baby” and Johnny “Guitar Watson’s “Motor Head Baby” (wherein Sean ascends to interplanetary heights with his guitar work). On songs such as “T-Bone Boogie” and “The Hucklebuck,” Costello exhibits a deft touch within the swing/jazz idiom with some amazing fretwork and interplay with standout keyboard player Matt Wauchope; and on such killer soul/rhythm & blues tracks as “I Get a Feeling,” “Check It Out,” “Can I Change My Mind” and “Doing My Own Thing,” his soulful vocals and guitar work get inside the songs themselves. Closing out the set is Sean’s version of Little Richard’s classic, “Lucille,” which shows that he could also rock out with the best of them.
